Overview

Atom Bank, founded 2014 in Durham by Anthony Thomson (Metro Bank co-founder) and Mark Mullen (first CEO), became the UK's first digital-only bank built for smartphone/tablet and the first challenger bank granted a full UK banking licence (2015), launching publicly in 2016. Based in Newcastle upon Tyne; has raised $852M from investors including BBVA, Toscafund Asset Management, and Woodford Investment Management.
