CNP Assurances

Overview

France's largest life insurer, with a total investment portfolio of roughly EUR 370 billion (~6% allocated to alternatives: private equity, real estate, infrastructure and private credit). For most of its PE exposure, CNP partners with external managers -- notably Tikehau Capital, and alongside Société Générale Assurances and CARAC Group on a 2025 defense/security-focused PE fund -- rather than running a broad in-house alternatives platform. It also operates its own captive corporate venture vehicle, Open CNP, a EUR 100 million fund (Seed-Series B; fintech, insurtech, health, B2B) that has backed roughly 10 startups including Alan, October and Lydia.
