Overview

Cook Museum of Natural Science traces to 1968, when John Cook Sr. opened his personal insect collection (originally used for Cook's Pest Control employee training) to the public. Expanded in 1980 with rocks/minerals/fossils/wildlife collections and a dedicated 5,000 sq ft building, then reopened in a larger downtown Decatur, Alabama location in 2019 -- voted USA Today's #1 Best New Museum 2021.
