Doğuş Group, founded 1951 by Ayhan Şahenk (starting as a construction firm with 9,000 Turkish lira in capital, building roads/ports/hospitals; diversified into banking in the late 1970s and automotive/tourism/food joint ventures with Volkswagen, Sheraton, and ConAgra through the 1980s), is one of Turkey's largest private conglomerates -- 250 companies across 7 industries including high-end auto dealerships, retail, restaurants, media, and construction. Chaired by Ayhan's son Ferit Şahenk; daughter Filiz Sahenk runs the Group's fashion/tourism segment, representing brands including Gucci, Emporio Armani, and Loro Piana in Turkey.
