Overview

Navios Maritime Holdings, founded 1992 and headquartered in Piraeus, Greece, is a vertically integrated seaborne shipping and logistics company chaired and led (CEO) by Angeliki Frangou, who entered shipping in 1990 with a loan from her shipowner father to buy a distressed freighter, then raised $200M+ to acquire Navios by 2004 and took it public as one of the first listed dry-bulk shippers. Frangou's consortium now controls 170+ vessels (dry bulk, container, tanker) and, via the 2008 Horamar Group acquisition, one of South America's largest Hidrovia-region logistics operations (Navios South American).
